Romuald Grimbert-Barré is a French violinist of Caribbean decent, fifth child of a musical family with whom he has regularly performed concerts since the age of 10.
Romuald has been prize winner of several competitions including the China international violon competition (2014) and Oistrakh Violin competition (2013) and was awarded the prestigious sponsorship from "Fondation Banque Populaire" as 2012 recipient. He has also been one of the four young musicians titled "Révélation classique 2011" from the French national ADAMI society, which has allowed him to perform in some of the most prestigious venues in France and abroad.
Romuald has performed as a soloist with the “Orchestre National de France” at Radio-France, « Orchestre de Chambre Nouvelle Europe » across China, South Korea and France, Tchaikovski State Conservatoy Orchestra of Moscow at the Great Tchaikovsky Hall, “Orchestre de la HEM” (Switzerland) in Geneva, « Orchestre de la Garde Républicaine » (Paris), Qindao Symphony (China) etc…
Other venues include Yamaha Hall in Tokyo (Japan), Carnegie Hall in New-York City, Albert Hall in Istanbul (Turkey), Shanghai Symphony Hall (China), Dubai Opera House (UAE), Cadogan Hall in London, Lotte Concert Hall in Seoul(South Korea), Gailliard Center in Charleston (S.C), Salle cortot in Paris, French Parliament in Paris, Festival Pablo-Casals, Roque d’Anthéron, Chaise-Dieu, Folle Journée de Nantes…
Romuald Grimbert-Barre is a graduate Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University with Mauricio Fuks. He also studied in Switzerland with Mihaela Martin. Recently he was a recipient of the “Talents de l’Outre-mer” Award bestowed by the Minister l’Outre-mer in Paris.
Romuald has also been a member of the highly selective Perlman Music Program based in NYC.
He started studying violin at the Conservatoire of Boulognes-Billancourt in France where he studied with Christophe Poiget until his graduation at age 15. During that period, he entered his first international competitions and won several prizes which gave him opportunities to perform as a a soloist with orchestra as early as 12 years old.

Gérard Caussé, Nicolas Dautricourt, Marielle Nordman, François Salque, Olivier Charlier, Jorja Fleezanis Claire Desert, Marc Coppey, Cyril Huvé, David Gaillard, Marc Desmons, André Cazalet, Nobuko Imai, Mihaela Martin, etc...
He also had the opportunitly to study and take masterclasses with musical masters such as Janos Starker, Joseph Silerverstein, Smuel Ashkenasi, Itzhak Perlman, Don Weilerstein, Zakhar Bron, André Watts.
Romuald has been Concertmaster of the Paris based chamber orchestra “Orchestre de Chambre Nouvelle Europe” for the past 8 years, and has also performed over 60 concerts as a soloist with that orchestra. He has been the violinist of the Ensemble Variances, founded by French composer Thierry Pécou since 2020.
Romuald recorded 2 CDs with Ensemble Grimbert-Barré and one recently with Ensemble Variances. He currently lives in Paris and plays a Matteo Goffriller violin from Venice, Italy 1715
